Manage a team of piping engineers and designers to ensure regulatory code compliance and quality of deliverables Develop a thorough understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, execution strategy, cost and schedule with the Engineering Manager Defines and develop the piping work plan for insertion into the Project specific execution plan and develop and maintain the Project’s scope of work documentation and revise as required during the design evolution. Prepare a list of engineering deliverables and time based functions to facilitate the planning and control of the engineering budget Prepare or assist in the preparation of project specific procedures. Prepare or assist in the preparation and development of piping specifications including piping details and field changes. Prepare or assist in the preparation of design calculations. Prepare or assist in the preparation of material takeoffs. Prepare or assist in the preparation of requisition for piping components, provide technical evaluation and review of supplier data. Review and approve piping technical deliverables. Ensure compliance with project schedules and costs. Coordinate between the piping team and other disciplines as the design evolves. Assist in ensuring that all work designed or supplied by the piping engineering discipline complies with the relevant sections of mandatory health and safety standards, including any pressure piping regulation or code referred to within the required jurisdiction for the project with due consideration of relevant client engineering standards. Ensure that quality of engineering work is carried out in accordance with project/Hatch procedures and maintain technical documentation. Participate in HAZOP reviews. Participate in resolution of all technical issues related to the piping discipline during project lifecycle, including planning phase, design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning. Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of piping engineering work. You bring to the role:. B.Sc.Eng./B.Eng./PR.Tech. in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Minimum of 10 years piping engineering experience with a minimum five years project engineering experience or equivalent relevant experience. Good knowledge of piping codes and standards. Good technical knowledge of piping engineering including specifications, calculations, P&ID development, line sizing, material selection, isolation requirements, valve selection and requisitioning of piping components. Good understanding of systems and workflows as they relate to the piping discipline. Good understanding of inter-discipline dependencies related to the piping discipline. Good understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies. Ability to achieve quality and schedule objectives. Ability to manage and motivate individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives. Ability to perform pipe stress analysis. Good knowledge of 3D data centric design systems.
